etsy: (via Tassel Garland18 tassels Glitter by Pomflair on Etsy) I was remarkably, perhaps strangely flattered by Izzy’s comment on Friday about the way I was dressed. The misunderstanding that, because I normally wear dresses and sweaters, something must have happened to lead me to be in the lounge in flannel and jeans and a Fairfield University T-shirt. When really, all it was is that by Friday I’m too tired to care about how I’m dressed. Casual Fridays are a thing in the workplace, I suppose, but also in my life. Though I was pleased to learn that I have a recognizable enough style of dress that it’s notable when what I pick out of my closet is a flannel shirt. It seems that, after all this time, the Make An Effort idea has really become second nature the way I’d hoped. All the same, it’s nice to go to a party which is themed so that the most acceptable possible form of dress is a slightly-too-large white T-shirt, bought in bulk from CVS earlier in the evening. You know what? Maybe all I want to do is stand here, drinking a beer and eating potato chips while a friend writes SHOW ME TO THE TARDIS on my T-shirt in pink highlighter.
